The breathable membrane protects the compost during its curing phase in windrows in order to maintain appropriate humidity levels and reduce the development of leachate.
BROME Compost offers a selection of composters and related equipment, such as the breathable membrane, as well as a range of services adapted to your composting needs. The COMPOSTEX™ breathable membrane can be used to optimise the maturation process for the finished compost in cases where this is done in windrows. This breathable cover is easy to handle and comes with an anchoring system if required.
Compared to unprotected heaps or windrows, a breathable membrane combined with a BROME Composter has many benefits:
- Doubles as a curing bay shelter;
- Maintains the ideal humidity level;
- Reduces the formation of leachate, which causes the compost to lose its nutrients;
- Reduces the curing time needed to achieve mature compost;
- Improves compost quality;
- Reduces odor emission (VOCs, gaseous ammonia, moist);
- Forced ventilation;
- Affordable and easier to set up than a shelter;
- Flexible.
